Le musée Dobrée poursuit sa programmation d’expositions archéologiques « hors les murs » au château de Châteaubriant. Avec plus d’une centaine d’objets issus de ses collections (momies, sarcophages...), et complétés par des dépôts du musée du Louvre, cette exposition vous invite à découvrir la civilisation des Égyptiens de l’Antiquité. Dans son parcours, l’exposition revient ainsi sur l’histoire de l’égyptologue Frédéric Cailliaud, à qui le musée Dobrée doit la majeure partie de ses collections. Elle illustre la vie quotidienne au temps des pharaons, puis lève le voile sur le monde des dieux et les rites funéraires de l’Égypte ancienne.

 

Horaires d'ouverture

  • Ouvert tous les jours (sauf le mardi)
  • De 10h30 à 18h (du 12 juin au 30 septembre)
  • De 14h à 17h30 (du 1er octobre au 29 novembre)

Through the Musée Dobrée’s Egyptian collections, travel back in time to the days of the Pharaohs. Over the course of your journey, discover the expeditions of Frédéric Cailliaud, and learn more about the lifestyle and funerary rites of the Ancient Egyptians...
 

  •  General public (6 yrs +) - €3 / participant: Wednesdays 15 July, 5 & 26 August at 3.30pm  (Duration 1 hour)

Everyday Life in Ancient Egypt

Step back in time to Ancient Egypt and observe the customs and lifestyle of the Ancient Egyptians. Create your own amulet using beetles, djed pillars or the Eye of Horus.

  • General public – quick guided tours - free: daily, except Tuesdays (Duration: 30 minutes)

2.30 & 4.30pm: Representations of the Pharaoh

Pharaohs were the pinnacle of Egyptian society. Considered as gods, artists devoted their work to glorifying them. How and through which symbols were the Pharaohs' messages conveyed to their people?

3.30pm: Animal Symbolism in Ancient Egypt

Animals, such as the lion, the cat and others, figured prominently in the Egyptian pantheon. Symbols of good or evil? How did the Egyptians worship them? 

  • For after-school groups and summer camps:
