At domaine de la Garenne Lemot
From 29th of may to 1st of september 2019
The Amazon, often perceived as a mysterious and frightening place, is full of surprising natural riches. Over the centuries Amerindians have passed on the secrets of making hallucinogens and poisons from the plants and animals necessary for their survival. Thanks to the use of psychotropic substances, they can make contact with the invisible world inhabited by the spirits of nature; they can consume toxic plants without being harmed; hunt with poisoned darts; and adorn themselves with feathers whose natural colour they have succeeded in altering (the practice of tapiragem).
This exhibition invites you to discover these highly useful poisons from the Amazon and the rich relationship that exists between the Amerindians and nature, at once harsh and respectful.
The forest awaits...
